ARTIST EXHIBITION – CULTURE DAYS 2022

Call for Artist Description: 

  • The Quay is looking for 10 artists to create paintings for BC Culture Days in the new Artist Avenue at The Quay  
  • Submission is open to all artists of all ages who reside in Metro Vancouver.    
  • We are looking for unique, original pieces that speak to the theme of “The Culture of Food” 
  • Artwork can either be framed (provided by The Quay) or painted directly onto your own canvas. 
  • Submissions will be reviewed by a panel.  Artwork will be assessed on creative use and expression of theme. While we wish we could display every submission there may not be space. 

 

Submission Criteria: 

  • All artists of all ages who reside in Metro Vancouver.  
  • Open to emerging talents, up-and-coming and established artists, hobbyists, and anyone who loves art. 
  • Artwork should speak to the theme “the culture of food” 
  • Key Words: Celebration, Connection, Participation, Inclusivity, Creativity, Self-Expression 
  • Size. 16” x 20” 
  • Artist to provide artwork 
  • Artwork can be on canvas or can be framed by The Quay 

 

Results 

  • Artists will be notified by September 1, 2022 

 

Installation: 

  • September 22, 2022 (artwork due to The Quay by September 21, 2022) 

 

Exhibit Dates 

  • The exhibit will be available for viewing from September 23 until at least October 16, 2022. 

 

Location: 

  • The Avenue, located on the second level of The Quay 
  • Please note this location is open to the public and not locked. 

 

How to Apply: 

  • Subject: BC Culture Days Art Exhibit 
  • Artist Biography: 3-5 sentences. Accepted formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX. Each file should be less than 20MB. 
  • Artwork submission:  hi-resolution images of the artwork you are submitting for consideration. Accepted formats: JPG, JPEG, TIFF, PNG. Each file should be less than 20MB. 
  • Artist statement: clear & concise, 100–200-word statement regarding your art practice and the concept/theme of the works being considered.  Accepted formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX. Each file should be less than 20MB 

Honorarium will be $100 per artist.
