Savour Fall Flavours
For the 7th Annual Food and Beverage Festival at Lonsdale Quay Market, a variety of vendors showcased their culinary expertise. Savour is a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills in the kitchen and get to know the Market vendors. This year Muffin Delight hosted a cookie decorating workshop for children. The sugar cookies were Halloween inspired with a cauldron, witch hat and a witch’s shoe. There was icing everywhere, but the workshop was a hit!
Sharky’s Chophouse then hosted a culinary showcase, where they demonstrated preparing a panko crusted pork tenderloin served with braised cabbage, pickled beets and roasted garlic potatoes. The meal was drizzled in a creamy pesto sauce. Ben, from Sharky’s, has a way of transforming simple family staples by introducing new ingredients and a twist on an old classic. The pesto cause was definitely the star of this dish. Recipes are available in the recipes section of our blog.
The final event of the day, was the Wine and Cheese workshop with Artisan Wine Shop. A good rule of thumb for wine and cheese, or food pairing in general, is to match densities; The heavier the food, the more full-bodied the wine should be. Kat, from Artisan Wine Shop, makes wine and cheese pairing very accessible and informative. If you didn’t get a chance to attend the workshop, stop by the store, they are very knowledgeable.
